Crown Estate to Bring Back Regency Swagger to St. James’s

St. James's Redevelopment

The area of St. James’s has a rich history dating back to the reign of Charles II (1660 - 1685).

During the 18th century George ‘Beau’ Brummell, Lord Byron, and William Pitt the Younger were among the Regency dandies who frequented the area. In more recent times much of the area has been turned over to commercial usage but all this is set to change with a major £500 million redevelopment led by the Crown Estate as James Pickford of the Financial Times explains in this article and video

The character of St. James’s has remained remarkably consistent due to an enclave of traditional gentleman’s clubs and businesses aimed at a wealthy and aristocratic clientele. We have been grooming gentlemen for greatness since 1805 and our own history is intertwined with that of St. James’s. In today’s connected world our emphasis on tradition and impeccable service has meant that we are as popular as we have always been. City professionals and businessmen have largely replaced the Regency dandies today but we remain the barber of choice for gentlemen who appreciate the finest in grooming.

We are officially recognised as the world’s oldest barbershop and in the years since 1805 we have had the honour of serving the Monarchs of Great Britain throughout nine consecutive reigns. We remain ‘By Royal Appointment’ and are barbers and Royal Warrant holders to H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh. Today we have a comprehensive selection of gentleman’s grooming products and barber shop locations around the world.
